LOVE THY PEOPLE AS THEY ARE!!!!

Lemme start by asking a simple question-

How many times does it happen that you whine about a particular trait in your friends and people around you and often ended up bitching about the person that this or that habit of him/her you cannot stand? Or this kind of person you do not like or that kind of people you like. It’s in the human nature to always strive for better than before. But why do we neglect the importance of what all we have now? How better would be the world if we love what we already possess in terms of humans and appreciate all good in them than criticize? For, it's sheer a wastage of moments that are given to us and are meant only to live and cherish it with love. Since last few days, I have been keenly observing, how the differences cause a jerk in a relationship be it with your friends or anyone, therefore misery of thoughts. I came to the point that tells only a solution that is “Acceptance”. If you say, you love someone, then love him or her as they are. Why do you even want them to change for you? Why do you want them to behave in accords of your likings or some people sees it in the views of status quota? Be proud of people you are blessed to be with, no matter than whether they stand upto your intellectualites or status or your so called image in the society( there are many, who more than being themselves, always try to be in the good books of the society and behave accordingly, then for good or bad, hence decepting self as well as people around). Make them feel the same, that you love them for what they are and proud of having them in your life. Why do you always seek approvals of being liked by others? This very desire drifts you away from yourself. The greatest bliss is in loving yourself as you are, and when one tries to break that supposedly universal truth, things start turning for wrongs and causes unhappiness to not only thyself but the world around you. Believe me! And then nothing seems to be going right! The society is born in order to help or many a times distract you from being what you are borne to be, and hence evolution of self, good or bad! The point is, why should you be the part of that society that prevents one from being in bliss of loving oneself. I have observed that it seems to have become a trend to criticize things and people, sometimes for no reason, just to be in the categories of intellectuals, hence making fools of self because there is no such categories. If I say I love my friends and people, I love them as they are. I never want them to change themselves for me but only improve and evolve with time. And even if that good change in them goes against me, I happily accept that fact. For I know, it’s just a matter of time. The simple funda should be like, why criticize when you can’t praise the good in them. Accept and love your people as they are and for what they are.

{ P.S - There is no such things as Good or Bad either. I have used these two words only to explain the differences that we often measure in balance scale of what is good or what's not.)

Lots of Love

9 ka Funda! #1

why you should not keep up a good health? (Read the Irony)

1) You will not have to work if you don't like it because you wont be able to.
2) You will enjoy the taste of bitter medecins and will get the riddance of some tastier food available in this world.
3) No pain No gain ....be in some pain to gain all attention of your family names. They would be happy to  annoy you with what to do/eat, what to not!
4) You will loose some good amount of weight which you were trying to shed by working hard.
5) If you are in love with doctor! You will enjoy being in the long queue to meet your favourite doctor.
6) You would die with boredom at home, see you would not have to look for other options then. And it won't look like suicide either!
 7) You will get hundred of ideas on what could you have done, had you been in good health. May realize the importance of fitness!
8) You will be all charged up once you come out of illness.
 9) Last but the least that you would end up writing the lamest blog like this one. :p

Dancing Fairy

It was in 1998 @10 Jan, a friend’s birthday party, one film, one song and one signature step that was easy and  fun. So that was the moment out of many that made me feel that I can dance. I used to copy all the steps I saw on the television and practiced them till the point of perfection. Every time a new film’s music (has to be my favorite) got release, I went out to the music store and bought the cassettes and danced on the tunes alone at home. So you can say, I was much into bollywood dancing.

On my first day of “Jazz” , my instructor on seeing my performance and the way I easily picked up the steps , made out that I have been into dancing though never had such professional training before. He asked me ,”What’s dance according to you ? ” that made me think what really it means to me. So decided to write on it.
If you just hold your breath for a second , close your eyes and think about that one thing without which your life is incomplete, you might think of a person, music, sports etc. but for me it’s dance.  Dance is an expression for me. Dance is the medium that connects me to myself and my soul. I feel like in heaven when I am dancing and after dance. I am like lost when I am on the floor. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and keeps me happy. Dancing is a rhythmic bodily movements on the beats  of the music. Infact I feel that music and dance are made for each other. They say in life you should be passionate and for me that passion comes from dance. When I do nothing , I am dancing. It’s a kinda rejuvenation that keeps me alive, literally.
Above all , I believe that dance teaches you a way of living life. It tells you to flow on the rhythms of life’s moments. It motivates you to take care of yourself , your fitness. It generates endorphins, happy hormones, in your body that keeps your spirit smiling all day. It speaks the language of love and helps connecting you to yourself and with others. Dance asks you to love yourself so that the expressions flow freely out of you. It’s an art appreciated all over the world. Anyone can dance.
So the next time , you hear any music , just forget about the world and get lost in  yourself . Feel the music, feel the movements.
Mantra – Perfection comes with sheer perseverance and practice. Then be it dance or any other activity.
(On a funny note – Because I am lost when I dance, people around me thinks that I am drunk when I am actually not.  :p)
Signing Off.

There as such no rules to live a life. Still, the real fun is in living each and every moment to the fullest, at least to your best. I know it sounds so cliche but this is what I am thinking at the moment and not only thinking, infact doing while writing this blog. Life has always been my favourite subject. Few days back in an interview, I heard some one saying that "I am extracting maximum juice of my life". Then few days later, when I tried the same line to a friend, he immediately pointed out that it can happen only if you squeeze it. Squeeze here can be referred to giving out your 200 percent.

Elegant and Classy Wines!

"Wine is the most civilized thing in the world."
Ernest Hemingway.

If you are a starter, commence with Asti ( a sweet sparkling wine) suggested Magandeep Singh, the wine connoisseur.

I am not alcoholic , neither I have any intentions to be one. But I have always been very fascinated with the french wine culture. That's how I discovered my interest in wines.I had this feeling that the day I would get the chance to taste the wine, I would grab it instantly. And the day came sooner unexpectedly. On an official event, during the presentation on winetiquettes by MaganDeep Singh, we ( those who were present there including me) were asked to taste the wines ( although it was optional). How could i have missed it then, so I had them all : white wine, red wine and red sparkling wine. And believe me, it made me happy that I loved the experience.

So now I am pretty much sure that I love wines. I am going to learn and explore more about it.
Keep you updated on my newly discovered passion.

As King Edward VII once quoted on wine , "One not only drinks the wine, one smells it, observes it, tastes it, sips it and--one talks about it."

Mind escaping from exams!

      Mind in escape mode
It’s an another beautiful day. You feel like singing, dancing , watching your favorite flick, listening to your favorite artist, cook something delicious and different, travel to fun places or want to spend a quiet time with yourself, but you just look at the wall clock and the act wakes you up  from a daydream to realize you have an exam  tomorrow. You  are in no mood to indulge in your academic books but the novel of  your favorite author. Have you ever thought ,why this happens ?
Few days back, when I had my exam next day, I saw a new status update on facebook which says , why its only during exams that we develop so many hobbies? And this “Why” struck my mind to think about it and dig out the answers to this open question. I personally feel like doing everything else but studies during exams and that I have to deliberately keep myself focused. The reasons are manifold . Like
  •     Because you think you still have many hours left to study and you can do whatever you feel like doing in the meantime.

  •   You don’t  like to dive into books for it’s full of theories, models etc that you have to make your way through cramming.

  • You don’t know from where to start and how to start (studying after being left with less time).

  •   You are habitually trained to spend time with your hobbies when you should actually do it with studies during tests.

  •  You have not studied the whole year or semester ,  and the times come to cram all that have possibility to appear on the question paper but the  lazy mind assumes it a herculean task, hence escaping ( thats what laziness phenomenon is) .

  •   Or because you lose all hope that nothing could be done at the nick of time. You wish if you have utilized your time properly or studied before.

In “Seven habits of effective people” , Stephen R Covey illustrated the matrix of time management that has four quadrants into it. Each quadrant represents the tasks based on priorities.
I Quadrant – Urgent and Important
II Quadrant – Importent but not Urgent
III Quadrant – Urgent but not Important
IV Quadrant – Not Urgent, Not Important.
The chapter explains, “When people don’t spend maximum time in II Q , they have to deal with I Q and when they don’t want to be in I Q , they shift to IV Q”
For example in context of exams, II Q involves studying daily or regularly to be updated (which is important but not urgent ), I Q is studying at the last moment to get through the exams (urgent and important) , IV Q is the normal escapal chamber (not urgent and not important).
In short , to achieve positive and productive results with no end time jitters , to avoid escaping from an important task , spend maximum of time in II Quadrant.
I hope I have made my point clear on why our mind like to be in escape mode during exams.
And I just realized , writing too (that I am doing right now)  is the kind of escape  from stress building up due to exams and project deadlines. I should better stop it right here and get back to work or sleep for it’s already 1 at night.
Keep studying and Smiling!! :)

Ridiculous Rule

Let me share an incident with you. It's indeed funny. Okay if not for you, but for me it was the fun moment of the day!! Because I got to know about a ridiculous rule today which has been formed just few days ago .

As soon as I entered the premises, I saw the person for whom I went to college. My project mentor. He was discussing IPL and a trip with my fellow batch mates. I also joined them. I was already late for my class . I looked at the time, " still 35 mins left for the class to get over ". I had 35 spare mins and I could finish the most important task of the day i.e to discuss the project, I am working on, with my mentor. .

I   asked him if we can discuss the project and he replied ," come with someone". I wondered why and what it had to do with my project discussion . I walked out of staff room in search of a person. I caught my friend Bishu and brought him to the staff room. Then he noted, " person accompanying you must be a gal". I asked, "why sir ? " of which he responded, "I can't sit with you unless you come with one more gal ". Because the class was still  on, and almost all of my gal friends were in the room. Then I saw and approached two gals , again my batch mates, comforting themselves on the staircase, gossiping. I asked them if they could do me a favor and accompany me. I narrated them what's the case. They laughed it off ,"Sir is just joking with you  and don't take it seriously". They denied my proposal in fear of being asked by him about the status of their project on which they have not even touched yet.

I again haplessly walked back to him and reported him that nobody was interested . I was keeping my cool in frustration and asking him to discuss. He denyingly answered, "I can't help it out, it's a newly formed rule". I was amazed, "What kind of rule is this? It's absurd ". I doubtingly asked him, "Are you kidding sir  or making me a fool? It's not even 1st of April ".

Finally the class had got over by then and I entered into my class room where I got to know the truth . Unfortunately it's a rule recently issued by the university."A gal student has to be accompanied by another gal everytime she is to discuss anything with the professor (male)".

This is indeed a ridiculous rule I have ever come across. Nobody needs it.  Nobody  is in support of it . Nobody will ever follow it.

between a rock and a hard place!!

Life gives you surprises when it's least expected.

" I am standing at the cross road and have options to choose to tread on any one. No road is laid of roses but stones. Despite having knowledge about where the path leads yet unsure of the uncertainties lying ahead". It's the situation we all have to face at some point of time in life.

Decision has to be taken. No one can stand at this intersection point  for long. And thence we often have to move with all unpreparedness to preparedness to fight the battle of odds and obstacles on the way which at the end offer us the pleasure of success.

New Word #1

It's 18th day of the month March. Today it feels that its a matter of yesterday only since we have a bash on the new year. The time seems to have passed so quickly!!! Two months = Two Days if we look back.

We often have to face many moments which appears to be close when they actually have happened in a distant past.

Then I have found the term used to describe this psychological phenomenon while reading a book "Making Time" authored by Steve Taylor.

"Forward Telescoping " - the tendency to think that past events have happened more recently than they actually have.

Happy Holi(Day)!!!

Prior to 1st March, no excitement. A friend asked "What's plan for Holi ?" . I answered " Plan!! I am not even in the festive mood." Why? Because I can't see it. It might have become a regular holiday for almost everyone atleast for those I know. It needs no preparation like decoration et al. About festive food , now it all available in the market. One just need to spend some money. Making "gujiya" at home is still a pleasure which this time mom abstained from.

The forte of festival of color is that it colors you in its own spirit no matter how hard you try not to. Unlike other festivals, one need not to strain one's brain on what to wear but to decide upon which piece of clothe to sacrifice for celebration. .The first and foremost thing I did is to oil my hair and put a layer of jelly(petroleum) on skin to prevent skin damage cause due to inorganic colors.Last year i resoluted to play holi with organic colors only but i cant prevent others to use it. This year I decided to play dry as one of my another friend inspired me by explaining on how much galloons of water being wasted on this day not only in playing but in washing off the colors too afterwards. He was not at all in save water campaign, but had a thought worth considering. So i did.

Thereafter continued the Happy Holi session with rubbing the colors on each others faces, embracing and wishing holi.

50 First Date

Everyday living with no memories of the previous day , falling in love again and again with the same person , how good can life be when you have someone who loves you unconditionally...50 First Dates has it all!!

Nothing beats a First Kiss - Lucy tells Henry when they first kiss ,everyday. Lucy suffers from short term memory, she can't remember anything for more than a day. Hence everyday is a new day to her, every first kiss of a day is a first kiss of her life. That makes her special as she lives her life to a moment with no past no future and keeping it safe as memoir in her diary and video for she knows that she will forget it the next day. It all becomes possible because Henry loves her and persistently makes her to fall in love with him everyday.

Though blessingly we have got privilege to remember the things until you cross the age of 60 or 70 and get Alzheimer's disease, yet we keep worrying about our past and future. Each new moment has power to fill us up with the sense of mystery , joy and love. Life becomes more special when we know it's worth.

It's all about Living and Loving!!!

P.S - It's not a movie review.

Street Food Diary #1

                                      Pappu Aloo Chaat Waala

Here is my confession : I love street food!!!
As we know Girls love to have some chatpata and I am no exception. I wonder if it's one of the reason why do I carry few extra kilos!!! :-(  Despite the fact,I  couldn't resist myself from having Aloo Chaat everytime I visit the library.
No No....I am not talking about the Library Canteen ( which serves hygienic food ) but the one standing in front of the building next to the British council Library.

Note - For more than 25 years, this stall has been serving chats to professionals as well as students who often visit the stall during meal time.

Fact - Last year, the pappu stall got the space in HT Delhi Eating Out guide.

P.S - It's not for the hygiene-obsessed people.

It's just not me!!

This is my second composition that I ever tried to make as I was incapable to bear the thoughts within myself. First time I did  when I was in 9th class. It was the after effect of a teacher's inspirational lecture that said "a poet is hidden within everyone". Well I tried to evoke the poet within me in vain and wrote  down a hilarious hindi poem on Rain.........Did I just make a Rhyme?? Well.......

 It’s Just Not Me

I don’t know who I am,
What should I be,
What I want,
How should I be with thee.

Life seems so strange,

Sometimes full of joy,
Sometimes a struggle,
Many aspects many range.

Happy today Sad Tomorrow,
Wake up every morning,
With different feelings,
Either lively or sorrow.

What I call it,
Glimpses of mood swing,
Sometimes left or
at right wings.

It’s the feeling
m living with, see
What I should know
It’s just not me!!!!!!

Fresh Start or Restart ??

After procrastinating the writing for couple of weeks, I finally win over myself to write about something that occupies my mind this month....i.e Resolution!!!

Is January the month of resolution?? Yes may be......or can say the month of fresh start...but for me its the month of restart!

One decides to wake up before dawn only to start lazing around few weeks later, to follow healthy lifestyle only to fall back in the previous regimen, to start reading only to found the books still lying on bookshelf half read or unread....and then again resoluting the same to do's the next year...

Last week of December, sitting down with diary to review the year and deciding upon the things for the new calender......flipping through the newspapers to find articles on resolutions( what to make, how to follow, what not to make...blah blah) every other day....the usual case seen every year!!!

The question is : "Why to wait for the new year" ??

When you can bring life changing decisions into action at this moment, then why to wait for the  new year??
Has the Resolution become pseudo phenomenon associated with the new year only??......Well it's upto you to answer!!

Advice is : Stop making false promises to yourself..(they would later make you feel guilty anyways )........
Rather just Make one that you feel can bring positive change in your life
and Stick with it...........atleast for 30 Days (as it takes atleast 3 weeks to form an habit and 1 week to make that habit stronger)

Catchphrase : Just make one and stick with it!!!
